Whangarei Growers Market is one of New Zealand’s original growers markets, running every Saturday at 17 Water Street from 6am to 10am. It’s been going since 1998 and has a regular local following. Come early for the best selection — by 9am the most popular stalls are selling down.
The market is produce-focused: seasonal fruit and vegetables from local growers, free-range eggs, meats, artisan bread and pastries, honey, flowers, and plants. Rain or shine, year-round.

The Artisans Market runs on selected Saturdays from October through April at Putahi Park, beside the Canopy Bridge in Town Basin, in front of the Hundertwasser Art Centre. Hours are 9am to 1:30pm. Over 100 stallholders take part — expect fine art, pottery, jewellery, clothing, garden decor, and local food producers.

The Tikipunga Market is Whangarei’s most eclectic weekly market, held every Sunday morning at Tikipunga High School (194 Corks Road) from 7am to 11am. Fresh produce, locally caught seafood, arts and crafts, plants, car boot bargains, and food stalls serving breakfast and coffee.

A long-running community market at 130 Onerahi Road, operating Saturday mornings from 8am to noon. Weekly in summer (September–July), fortnightly in winter (1st and 3rd Saturday). A rural community market on the 3rd Saturday of the month at the corner of Tauraroa and Tangihua Roads in Maungakaramea — about 30 minutes northwest of Whangarei on the way to Dargaville. Crafts, produce, and food stalls. Wheelchair accessible. Check their Facebook page for current times.

The Tutukaka Twilight Market runs on selected Saturday evenings in summer (4pm–8pm) on the marina green at Tutukaka Marina, about 30 minutes northeast of Whangarei. Local artisans, food trucks, music, and a waterfront setting — one of the more atmospheric market experiences in the region.
